Bizzack Law Enforcement Training Complex, a 127,000 square-foot, $20 million facility that sports residence halls and numerous classrooms. The most striking feature, though, is a beautiful granite monument which holds the names of all Kentucky law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. In November of 1999, only months after the formation of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation, the Keith Monument Company was commissioned (through the KLEMF board) to develop “a memorial design equal with the sacrifice made by persons whose names are permanently displayed.” The original monument was 17 feet long, 3 feet 6 inches in height and 2 feet 10 inches in depth. Made entirely of black granite, the original monument also featured five stainless steel panels on which the names of Kentucky law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty appeared. Around twelve years ago, the monument reached its capacity. In response, The Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation ordered an expansion. In 2007, two new wings were added, one on each side. There is also a near by donor’s area, it too designed by the Keith Monument Company, that recognizes those who have aided the Foundation with lasting support. Along with these upgrades, the entire memorial was moved to a new location that boasts beautiful landscaping and a seating area. The Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation not only maintains the only statewide listing of every fallen law enforcement officer in Kentucky, it also offers relief, assistance and scholarships to the families of these fallen heroes. The license plates are available at all County Clerk offices throughout the state. The initial cost is $44.00 with an annual renewal fee of $31.00. This plate is available for personalization with an additional $25.00 application fee but is limited to a maximum of 5 characters. $10.00 of the initial and renewal registration fee goes to the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation.
